Sroczyn: a poultry farm for up to 7 million birds a year planned on a former mink farm site; residents object
gniezno24.comMore than a year ago Sroczyn residents protested against plans to restart the local mink farm, which will not operate following Poland's fur farming ban. Now an application has been filed with the Kiszkowo municipality for environmental conditions for an intensive poultry farm on the former mink farm site and a neighbouring plot.
According to residents, the plan includes 10 livestock buildings totalling 32,000 m². They estimate that, across successive production cycles, up to 7 million birds a year could pass through the farm. They also point to very high water use and wastewater.
Residents fear the return of odours, flies, noise and lorry traffic. They are collecting signatures and plan to submit comments on the environmental documentation; the deadline is 12 November 2026.
