Wejherowo county: police and OTOZ Animals rescue three dogs kept on chains as short as 30 cm
pomorska.policja.gov.plThe intervention at a property in Wejherowo county took place a few days before the police statement. The dogs were chained on tethers from about 30 cm to at most 1.5 m long, which stopped them moving freely or even sheltering in their kennels.
The kennels were makeshift, uninsulated and full of holes. The animals were neglected, wet and caked in mud, there was no water or food bowls, and the dogs were malnourished. The owner claimed the conditions were adequate. The dogs were placed in the care of OTOZ Animals.
Police are gathering evidence; the 49-year-old may soon be charged, an offence punishable by up to three years in prison. Officers urge people to report any suspected animal cruelty.
