Bieganów: residents put up banners against a duck and goose farm
Photo by krzhck on UnsplashSince Wednesday 21 October banners reading “No to the duck and goose farm!” and “Stop the stinking investment!” have hung in the village. Residents have opposed the project from the start – nearly 400 people signed a petition submitted to the Cybinka town hall.
According to the plans, the farm would hold around 40,000 geese per cycle and, outside the season, up to 88,000 ducks at once. Residents point out that the area already hosts a biogas plant, a pig farm and a feed mill, and complain about odour, noise, lorry traffic and water problems.
The project did not receive a positive environmental opinion, partly due to its impact on a Natura 2000 site, bird flu risk and water quality. Gobarto has announced an appeal, and residents do not rule out protests.
