Is wine vegan?
Short answer
It depends on fining. Grapes are plants, but wine may be fined with egg white, casein, gelatin or isinglass. Vegan wines use bentonite, carbon, or no fining, plus a vegan mark.
Fining agents are not always listed as ingredients. “Made from grapes” is not enough.
Allergen labelling helps for egg/milk; isinglass is less obvious. Check the producer or a vegan wine list.
