Is “natural flavouring” vegan?

Short answer

You cannot tell from the name alone. In the EU a natural flavouring may come from plants or animals (meat, milk). The only sure trail is the producer, a certification, or a specific source (“vanilla flavouring from vanilla”).

EU flavouring law does not require disclosing whether a flavour is animal-derived, except for allergens.

This is a classic “depends / unsettled” on a label, not a reason to panic over every certified-vegan biscuit.
