The Chatka Gołębia Foundation, together with the Mushika Foundation, invites you to the September String Action.

Strings, threads, hair, or fishing lines left in urban spaces can wrap around the fingers and legs of pigeons, leading to painful injuries. Help urban pigeons untangle themselves by participating in the String Action! 🕊️ No experience is necessary – you will learn everything on-site. We provide all participants with free pigeon feed, disposable gloves, and personal hygiene supplies.

What does the String Action look like? 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM – we meet at our booth in Strzelecki Park (by the Mausoleum of General Józef Bem) We will explain what the String Action is, why strings, fishing lines, and other waste pose a threat to urban pigeons, and how to safely help birds that have become entangled. 12:30 PM – 2:00 PM – we set off for a walk We will visit places where the pigeon flocks of Tarnów gather: 👉 Petőfi Square, 👉 the square in front of the Świt Gallery, 👉 the park by the PKP train station. Together with volunteers like you, we will be on the lookout for pigeons tangled in strings or fishing lines and birds that may need help. We will examine the caught pigeons and assess their health. If the problem can be safely resolved on-site and the bird is healthy – after removing the string or fishing line, the bird will return to its flock. If the strings are embedded or the pigeon shows signs of illness – we will secure it and transport it to the "Salamandra" veterinary clinic after the Action, where specialists will provide assistance. The costs of treatment and rehabilitation will be covered by the Mushika Foundation. The event is organized by the Chatka Gołębia Foundation and the Mushika Foundation.
