Is lanolin vegan?

Short answer

No. Lanolin is wax from sheep’s wool, common in lip balms and vitamin D3. Vegan balms use plant waxes.

Even “combed” wool is a product of sheep farming. The vegan definition covers clothes and cosmetics.

Some cruelty-free certifications are not vegan (they still allow lanolin).
