Interspecies Cinema at MSN: “The Electrical Life of Louis Wain” – film and talk
On 26 November the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw screens the biopic of cat illustrator Louis Wain as part of its Interspecies Cinema series, followed by a talk on animals in art and interspecies relations.
About the event
The screening is on Thursday 26 November 2026 at 19:00 at the cinema of the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw. Will Sharpe's film (UK 2021, 111 min) is shown in English with Polish subtitles.
The eccentric artist Louis Wain became famous for his drawings of cats, which captured the British public's imagination at the turn of the 20th century. The film also shows how attitudes to cats changed – from working animals to fully-fledged household companions.
After the screening, Dr Patrycja Pichnicka-Trivedi of the Centre for Environmental Humanities will lead a talk on Wain's work, representations of animals in art and interspecies relations. Upcoming screenings in the series: 21 January “Good Boy”, 25 February “We, Our Animals and the War”, 18 March “Chicken”.
