Do vegans need vitamin K2?
Short answer
K2 (menaquinone) is richest in natto and some cheeses. Vegan sources: natto, smaller amounts in ferments, fortified foods. For most healthy people K1 from greens covers blood clotting; K2 is discussed for bone and vessel health.
Natto (fermented soy) is the strongest vegan MK-7 source. If you skip natto, some people supplement K2, especially with little leafy green intake.
It does not replace B12 or D. If you take anticoagulants, do not add K2 without a clinician.
