Do vegans use cosmetics tested on animals?
Short answer
They try not to. They pick brands with a credible cruelty-free programme. A vegan formula without a testing policy is not enough.
The EU banned testing finished cosmetics and cosmetic ingredients, but exceptions and other-market rules exist. Brand policy matters more than a tube slogan.
Medicine is a separate category: preclinical tests are legally required. Veganism “as far as practicable” does not demand refusing an antibiotic.
