Eating out
How do you stay vegan while travelling?
Short answer
Scout a few restaurants ahead, carry protein snacks (nuts, a bar, hummus) and learn 4–5 local phrases: no meat, fish, egg, milk, honey.
At airports: salads without cheese, hummus, fruit, sometimes pizza without cheese. Trains can be bleak — a packed sandwich wins. HappyCow and the Vegan Guide map help in cities.
Countries with a pulse-heavy cuisine (India, the Middle East, Ethiopia, Vietnam aside from fish sauce) are easier than grill country. Hotel breakfasts: bread, jam, fruit, coffee with your own carton of plant milk.
