Does “meat from a small farm” solve the vegan objection?
Short answer
For veganism — no. It is still breeding and killing an animal for a product. It may reduce some environmental or welfare harms versus a factory farm, but it does not change an animal from someone into something.
“I know the farmer” can be a more honest relationship than an anonymous fillet. Veganism still asks whether the killing is needed if the plate can be built otherwise.
If someone becomes a flexitarian and cuts meat by 80%, that still matters for climate and numbers. It is not veganism.
